Types of paper till rolls

1 Ply paper rolls
This is a single piece of paper rolled onto a cardboard or plastic spindle. These types of till rolls will produce 1 copy of what is being printed.

2 and 3 Ply paper rolls
2 and 3 ply Carbonless till rolls have a coating of micro capsules on either the front or back of the paper. The three ply variety has the coating on both sides of the second copy. In order to produce an image on the top copy, a ribbon is required in the printer.

Tachograph paper rolls
Tachograph rolls are a legal requirement for all large commercial vehicles must have from 1st May 2006. Its is also a legal requirement to carry at least 1 spare roll in your vehicle at all times. The rolls are fitted into digital tachograph machines as printouts must be produced for enforcement purposes. The printouts from the tachograph rolls can also be used as a hard copy of the drivers activities.

Thermal rolls
Thermal paper rolls are widely used for chip & pin and industrial purposes. Thermal rolls only have a single sheet of paper which has a shiny, smooth surface. Thermal rolls are generally available in white, although other colours are also available upon request. Thermal till roll paper has a heat sensitive coating that reacts to a heated print head to produce an image.
