A4 Copier Paper

A4 Copier & Printer Paper for Everyday Work

Choose A4 paper by the job it needs to do: everyday white copier paper for invoices and worksheets, coloured sheets for organised forms, or colour laser paper for customer-facing documents. AOS brings these options together with recycled paper and specialist bank and ruled paper for office and educational use.

Start with 80gsm for routine printing, then compare paper weight, printer compatibility and sheets per pack. Browse reams and bulk boxes from brands including Navigator, HP, Xerox and Q-Connect, with multibuy offers on selected lines. Our guide below explains what to check before ordering for one printer or a shared print room.

Find the Right A4 Paper for Your Print Job

A useful paper specification covers more than size. Match the paper type to the document, check it against your printer and compare the total sheet quantity before choosing a pack.

White Paper for Everyday Printing

For purchase orders, meeting notes and classroom handouts, start with white A4 copier paper. Compare everyday 70gsm, 75gsm and 80gsm options with heavier grades for documents that need a more substantial feel. Check opacity if you regularly print on both sides.

Recycled Paper for Purchasing Policies

If your organisation specifies recycled fibre, browse recycled A4 paper and check the stated recycled percentage. Compare the weight, shade and printer suitability alongside any certification required by your purchasing policy. Recycled content and forestry certification describe different things; one does not establish the other.

Coloured Paper for Sorting and Notices

Use 80gsm coloured A4 paper to separate department forms, highlight notices or organise learning activities. Choose a shade that keeps the printed text easy to read. For repeat orders, retain the product code so you can reorder the same named shade and specification.

Colour Laser Paper for Presentation Work

For proposals, charts and illustrated reports, explore A4 colour laser printer paper. Compare surface finish, whiteness and weight against your document requirements. This category includes options such as 100gsm and 120gsm; check your printer's supported weights and recommended tray before buying.

Choosing between 70gsm, 80gsm and heavier paper

Gsm means grams per square metre: it measures paper weight, not its exact thickness. Two papers with the same gsm can differ in feel, opacity and surface finish.

  • 70–75gsm: lighter options to compare for routine documents where your printer supports them.
  • 80gsm: a common starting point for everyday correspondence, copying and worksheets.
  • 90–100gsm: worth considering when letters or reports need a more substantial feel.
  • 120gsm: an option for presentation documents, subject to printer and tray compatibility.

For a large change of paper type, try a small quantity first using your usual print settings and a representative document.

Checking laser, inkjet and double-sided printing compatibility

Check both the paper specification and your printer manual. A multipurpose paper may support laser, inkjet and copying, but a specialist sheet should only be used with the technologies stated by its manufacturer.

For double-sided printing, look at opacity as well as gsm: opacity describes how well the sheet prevents print on the reverse from showing through. Also check your machine's automatic duplex weight limits, which can differ from its single-sided limits. Select the appropriate paper type in the print settings.

Comparing reams, boxes and the cost per 1,000 sheets

Compare the total sheets supplied, not just the pack price. A box described as five 500-sheet reams contains 2,500 sheets; specialist paper may come in smaller packs.

Cost per 1,000 sheets = pack price ÷ total sheets in the pack × 1,000.

Use the same VAT basis for each comparison and account for delivery charges. Then compare like-for-like paper weights and specifications. A lower price per box is not necessarily a lower price per sheet, and a cheaper sheet may not suit the intended document.

When to choose bank paper, ruled paper or graph paper

A4 bank paper is a lightweight option; the range includes 50gsm sheets. Check suitability for your intended writing or copying task rather than treating it as a direct substitute for standard 80gsm printer paper.

A4 ruled and graph paper provides prepared lines or grids for handwritten notes, calculations and classroom work. Compare ruling, margins and pack quantity. Do not assume these specialist sheets are suitable for your printer unless the specification confirms it.

Storing bulk copier paper and managing refills

Keep paper flat in its original wrapping, in a dry storage area away from damp and direct heat. Open reams when required and follow the manufacturer's storage guidance. Protect partly used packs from moisture and damage.

Keep different weights clearly labelled so heavier presentation paper is not loaded into a tray set for everyday stock. Base repeat orders on actual usage and available storage space, leaving enough reserve for busy printing periods.

Bulk A4 Copier Paper for Offices and Schools

Standardising your everyday paper can make ordering simpler across shared printers, school offices and administration teams. Keep a record of the chosen product code, gsm and sheets per box, then order specialist paper separately for presentation or colour-coded work.

AOS offers multibuy pricing on selected paper lines and business purchasing and credit account options, subject to eligibility and approval. For a larger requirement, contact us with your preferred paper, quantities and delivery location to discuss a quotation.

A4 Copier Paper FAQs

What size is A4 copier paper?

A4 paper measures 210 × 297mm, or 21 × 29.7cm. Paper weight and pack size do not change these dimensions.

Is copier paper the same as printer paper?

The terms overlap for everyday multipurpose paper. However, printer paper also includes specialist products such as photo and colour laser paper. Check the intended printing technology and finish rather than relying on the name alone.

Is 80gsm A4 paper suitable for double-sided printing?

It can be, provided the paper and printer support duplex printing. Compare the paper's opacity and test a typical page, particularly if it includes dense text, charts or large areas of colour. Gsm alone does not determine how much print shows through.

How many sheets are in a ream or box of A4 paper?

A ream commonly contains 500 sheets, and a box of five such reams contains 2,500 sheets. Pack sizes vary, especially for specialist papers, so check the total sheet count in the product listing.

Can recycled A4 paper be used in office printers?

Yes, when the product is specified for your printer type and supported paper weight. Recycled content alone does not determine compatibility. Check the individual paper description for laser, inkjet or copier suitability.

What is the difference between coloured paper and colour laser paper?

Coloured paper has a coloured sheet, useful for notices and sorting documents. Colour laser paper is designed for colour laser printing and is often white. Choose the former for a coloured background and the latter when the printed colour document is the priority.

Can I order bulk A4 paper for next-day delivery?

Next-working-day delivery options are available for eligible orders. Availability depends on the products, order time, delivery address and chosen service. Check our delivery information and confirm arrangements for larger quantities before placing a time-sensitive order.
