Which centrefeed roll should I buy?

Start with your dispenser model, then match the roll dimensions and wiping task. “Blue roll” describes colour; “centrefeed” means paper pulled from the centre. Compare compatible refills by performance and cost per 100 metres.

White centrefeed rolls

The same centre-pull principle, with white paper. Compare strength and absorbency in the product specification.

5 Star white mini centrefeed refill

Mini centrefeed rolls

For compatible compact dispensers. Check width and outside diameter; “mini” is not one universal size.

Pictured: 5 Star mini refill.

Images are examples, not to scale. Mini is a size format; blue and white are paper colours.

Blue roll vs kitchen roll: kitchen roll normally unwinds from the outside. A centre-pull refill feeds from the middle, so the two are not automatically interchangeable.

Mini, standard or midi: which roll fits?

Format names are not standard measurements. Check these three details before buying a case:

  1. Model or system codeFind the dispenser label and its approved refill list.
  2. Width and outside diameterMatch both to the specification. Roll length describes capacity, not fit.
  3. Feed and core typeCheck removable-core or coreless loading and any required perforations.

Changing brands? Confirm that the dispenser permits the alternative refill.

1-ply, 2-ply or 3-ply blue roll?

Ply means paper layers. More layers do not automatically mean better value. Compare wet strength, absorbency and the amount needed per job.

1-ply

One layer. Compare suitable options for routine wiping.

2-ply

Two layers. Check the specified strength and absorbency.

3-ply

Three layers. Compare performance for more demanding tasks.

Food preparation: check the exact product’s food-contact statement. Hand drying: choose paper specified for hand wiping, or compare dedicated hand towels.

Check recycled content and certifications on each product. Follow your waste contractor’s guidance for used paper.

Choose wall-mounted or portable equipment to suit the workspace, then check mounting, capacity and clearance for refilling.

How to remove a blue roll core

For rolls with a removable cardboard core, follow the pack and dispenser instructions:

  1. Find the openingLocate the core’s tear seam or tab.
  2. Release the coreGently peel or collapse it inwards and lift it out.
  3. Thread the paperFree the centre end and follow the dispenser’s outlet path.
  4. Close and testKeep paper clear of the cover; check feeding and tearing.

Coreless and specialist refills may load differently. Do not force a core that will not release.

Compare blue roll prices by length

A cheaper pack can contain less paper. Compare similar widths and grades on the same VAT basis.

Centrefeed roll troubleshooting

  • Will not feed? Check the refill code, core preparation and outlet path.
  • Tears inside? Look for trapped paper, a crushed or damp roll, or a damaged guide.
  • Too much paper? Check refill compatibility and consider a controlled system.
  • Runs out quickly? Compare actual metres supplied and paper used per task.

Follow the dispenser’s troubleshooting instructions if correct reloading does not solve the problem.

Centrefeed & blue roll questions answered

Is blue roll the same as centrefeed roll?

Blue is a colour; centrefeed is a dispensing format. Centrefeed paper can be blue, white or natural-coloured. Check how the paper feeds and whether it suits the task.

What is the difference between blue roll and kitchen roll?

Kitchen roll normally unwinds from the outside. Centrefeed blue roll feeds from the middle. Compare grade, size and intended use; blue paper is not automatically stronger or cheaper.

Will any blue roll fit my dispenser?

No. Match the approved refill code, paper width, outside diameter and feed method. Controlled systems may require particular perforations. Brand name alone does not confirm compatibility.

What is the difference between mini and standard centrefeed rolls?

Mini generally describes a smaller format, but there is no universal mini, standard or midi size. Use the manufacturer’s actual dimensions and compatible refill list.

Should I buy 1-ply, 2-ply or 3-ply blue roll?

Compare compatible options by wet strength, absorbency and paper used per job. Ply counts the layers; it does not measure overall performance or guarantee better value.

How do I remove the cardboard core from blue roll?

For removable-core rolls, follow the pack instructions: find the tear seam, gently collapse or peel the cardboard inwards, lift it out and free the centre paper end.

Why does my centrefeed dispenser jam or tear the paper?

Check refill compatibility, core preparation and the outlet path. Trapped paper, a damaged guide or a crushed or damp roll can affect feeding. Follow the model’s troubleshooting instructions.

Can blue roll touch food?

Only when the exact product’s specification supports direct food contact under its stated conditions. Blue colour and a general cleaning description are not food-contact approvals.

Can I use centrefeed blue roll for drying hands?

Some centrefeed papers are specified for hand wiping. Check the product’s intended use. For dedicated washrooms, compare compatible hand towels and hand towel roll systems.

How many sheets are in a centrefeed roll?

Counts vary. Divide roll length by perforated sheet length in the same units. For example, 150m divided by 0.3m equals 500 sheets; this is not a universal specification.

How do I compare the price of blue rolls?

Divide the case price by its total metres and multiply by 100. Compare similar widths, grades and VAT treatment, then consider actual usage and dispenser costs.

Can I order centrefeed rolls in bulk from AOS?

Yes. Commercial packs and multibuy prices are available on selected lines. Send AOS your dispenser model, refill code, quantities and delivery locations for a quotation.

Need help choosing rolls or ordering in bulk?
